On 15 August 2017 representatives of the International Foundation for Sustainable Peace and Development (IFSPD) and its International Center for Support and Coordination of Economic Cooperation (ICSCEC) met in Istanbul with representatives of the United Nations Development Program (UNDP), to discuss possible areas of joint activities and cooperation. The meeting was held at the UNDP office, where Mr. Rastislav Vrbensky, UNDP Deputy Assistant Administrator of the Istanbul Regional Hub and Deputy Director of the Regional Bureau for Europe and the Commonwealth of Independent States (CIS) welcomed Prof. Dr. Eldar Hasanov, the Secretary-General and Dr. Ismail Safi, Vice President of the International Foundation (IFSPD). The meeting was also attended by Mrs. Ekaterina Paniklova, Senior Coordinator of the UNDP Program, Mrs. Saida Safikhanova, Project Coordinator of the ICSCEC. During the meeting, both sides familiarized themselves more closely with the scope of IFSPD activities and priority research projects. Prof. Dr. Eldar Hasanov and Dr. Ismail Safi expressed their gratitude to UNDP representatives for the warm welcome. During the conversation, a proposal was made to establish a University for Peace and Sustainable Development in Istanbul with the support of the United Nations Development Program (UNDP). UNDP, in the person of Mr. Rastislav Vrbensky, expressed readiness to familiarize, examine and support the research activities as well as the IFSPD educational project.
