On the 5th of October, 2011 in Belgrade, Serbia, on the initiative of the International Fund for Cooperation and Partnership and the Ministry of Culture and Tourism of Azerbaijan, the presentation of the documentary film “From Caspian sea to Danube” was held; it is devoted to the glorious way of the “223rd Belgrade infantry division”, the Soviet army that was formed from Azerbaijani people and participated in the liberation of Yugoslavia and Belgrade from Nazi Germany during the 2nd World War.
The film was produced on the basis of written and video materials as a result of the research of the world archives, recollections of the witnesses, experts’ expressions covering historical events of south-eastern countries: Romania, Ukraine, Bulgaria, Serbia, Yugoslavia.
In order not to forget deep roots of historical ties between nations and also to transmit this historical fragment to future generations, the documentary film “From Caspian sea to Danube” was created by the studio «Salnamе», the Ministry of Culture and Tourism of Azerbaijan, and Turkish producer centre «VIZIYON», with the film director Tahir Aliev. This film is intended to make a huge contribution to the strengthening of cultural, social and scientific ties between peoples from the former USSR and the Balkan region.
